About Stone Circle at Fan Lau

The Stone Circle at Fan Lau is an oval setting of unhewn stones measuring 2.7 m by 1.7 m, laid out deliberately on the Fan Lau peninsula. The Antiquities and Monuments Office places it in the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age and says its purpose is unknown, possibly ritual. A signposted side path from the Fan Lau trail leads to it, close to Fan Lau Fort.

How to get to Stone Circle at Fan Lau

On foot only, about 0.3 km west-south-west of Fan Lau Fort and about 5.5 km south-west of the Sha Tsui bus stop at Shek Pik (New Lantao Bus routes 1, 2, 11 and 23). On 10 October 2025 the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department closed the Fan Lau Country Trail, from which a side path leads to the circle, and part of Lantau Trail section 7 until further notice after typhoon and heavy-rain landslips, so check the current notice before planning.
