About Kowloon Walled City Park

Kowloon Walled City Park stands on the site of the Kowloon Walled City, a garrison town built by the Qing government in 1847 that later became a densely built-up enclave before it was cleared and turned into a park. The 31,000-square-metre park is laid out as a classical Chinese garden of pavilions, ponds and themed gardens, and it keeps two declared monuments: the restored Yamen, once the office of the Qing assistant magistrate, and the excavated remains of the South Gate, where two original stone plaques were found. An outdoor display area has a bronze model, and the Yamen currently houses the movie set exhibition Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey, scheduled to run until May 2028.
