About Ancient Towpath, Keqiao
A stone towpath along the Eastern Zhejiang Canal from which boats were hauled by men on foot, first worn along the banks after the canal was dug in the Western Jin and rebuilt in stone in the Hongzhi reign of the Ming (1488–1505). The protected 7.5 km stretch runs from Banqiao in Qianqing to Shangxie bridge in Keqiao, partly along the bank and partly as a causeway out in the water, with bridges at intervals to let boats through, which earned it the name 'white jade dyke'.
How to get to Ancient Towpath, Keqiao
Along the canal in western Keqiao, about 15 km west of Shaoxing's old city; the stretch by Taiping bridge, about 3.5 km west of central Keqiao, is the easiest to reach by road.
