About Mount Pan (Panshan)

Panshan is a mountain scenic area of about 106 square kilometres in northern Jizhou, long called the 'first mountain east of the capital'. Its five main peaks, odd-shaped boulders and pines drew emperors for centuries: the Qianlong Emperor climbed it 32 times and wrote about 1,700 poems on it, and the area once held 72 temples, 13 pagodas and the imperial retreat of Jingji Shanzhuang. The Tianjin government's description lists five visitor zones and more than 300 sights, including temple sites and stone inscriptions left by visiting rulers.
