About Big Bell Temple

Built in 1733 as the imperial Juesheng Temple, this Qing monastery took its popular name after the Yongle Bell, a huge bronze bell cast under the Ming Yongle Emperor, was moved here in 1743. Since 1985 it has been the Big Bell Temple Ancient Bell Museum, showing more than 400 Chinese and foreign bells, with the Yongle Bell hanging in its two-storey bell tower.
