About Site of the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China

The Chinese Communist Party held its Third National Congress here in Dongshan from 12 to 20 June 1923, in a rented two-storey house that was destroyed by Japanese bombing in 1938. Its exact position was confirmed by excavation in 2006, when the brick floor was found; the foundations are marked by a small square beside a history exhibition hall opened the same year. The memorial also takes in Chunyuan, a villa next door that housed the party's central offices at the time.
