About Pule Temple
A Qing temple built in 1766–67 on a rise east of the Wulie River, with a Chinese-style front half and a Tibetan-style rear half. The rear is dominated by the Xuguang Pavilion, a round double-eaved hall about 23 m high standing on a three-tier terrace, with a large wooden mandala and a bronze double-figure Samvara inside. Unlike most of its neighbours it never had resident monks and was run by the Imperial Household Department.
