About Tianxin Pavilion
The three-storey Tianxin Pavilion stands on the only surviving stretch of Changsha's city wall, a brick rampart of Ming origin some 250 m long and 13 m high that escaped the demolition of the walls in 1923–24. A pavilion has stood here since at least the 18th century; the present one, rebuilt in reinforced concrete in 1983–84 after the 1938 fire, has two side pavilions joined by corridors, and the surrounding Tianxin Park has a 1946 memorial pagoda to the dead of the war against Japan.
