About Badekar Monastery (Wudangzhao)
Badekar Monastery, known in Chinese as Wudangzhao, is a Gelug-school Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the hills of Shiguai District, founded in the early 18th century and enlarged from 1749. It is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Inner Mongolia: six main halls, three residences of reincarnate lamas and a mausoleum for their remains are scattered over the slopes of Jihuluntu mountain, with more than ninety earthen lamas' lodgings among them. It suits visitors interested in Tibetan Buddhist architecture and can be seen in a day from Baotou.
