About Former Yude Middle School
A late-Qing brick-and-timber courtyard that housed Yude Middle School, founded in 1907, and now serves as the memorial hall of the Work-Study in France movement. In 1917–20 the school ran preparatory classes for young Chinese heading to France to work and study, whose students included Li Weihan, Li Fuchun and Liu Shaoqi, later senior Communist Party figures. The hall's exhibition covers the movement through documents, photographs and reconstructed scenes.
