About Qinghe Circuit Office

The office of the Qinghe circuit intendant, an official in charge of rivers and lakes in southern Zhili, set up in 1726; the present compound of gates, three halls on a central axis, staff courtyards and a Huizhou-style flower hall dates from the 1830s–40s. After 1911 it was used as a warlord's residence, offices, a clinic and housing before restoration. Since the end of 2021 it has housed the Baoding Water Conservancy Museum, Hebei's first museum devoted to water, with displays of traditional water-lifting tools and local water-management history.
