About Nagqu

Nagqu, China's largest prefecture-level city by area and roughly the size of Sweden, spreads across the high plateau of northern Tibet. It holds most of Tibet's lakes, among them Siling Co and part of Namtso, and in the far west Tangra Yumco is the holy lake of the Bön religion. Every August the city hosts the Kyagqen horse-racing festival, which draws herders from across the north for races and archery.
