About Huizhou

Exiled to Huizhou in 1094, the poet Su Dongpo named Huizhou West Lake in his verse and wrote that he would gladly eat 300 lychees a day and stay in the south for good. To the north-west rises Mount Luofu, a Daoist mountain where the alchemist Ge Hong founded temples in the 4th century, and on the coast the beach resort of Xunliao Bay faces Daya Bay. Farther north in Longmen lie the forests of Nankun Mountain and the Hakka fortress of Hehu Walled Village.
