About Xianling Tomb of the Ming Dynasty

The joint tomb of Zhu Youyuan, a Ming prince, and his wife, rebuilt to imperial standard after their son became the Jiajing Emperor and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000 with other Ming and Qing imperial tombs. Its plan differs from the other Ming tombs: a vase-shaped outer wall, a nine-bend ceremonial stream crossed by stone bridges, a winding dragon-shaped spirit way lined with stone figures, and two burial mounds joined by a stone causeway. Fire destroyed the timber halls in 1642, so what survives is mostly stonework, gates, stelae and foundations.
