About Yingpan Village Tombs
On a hillside above Yingpan village in Liude township, the Taliu, a Yi subgroup living around Taliu Mountain, built some 7,000 stone-faced tombs between the late Ming and the Republican era, most of them in the late 17th and 18th centuries. About 2,500 survive largely intact, many with archway-style headstones up to 2 metres high, carved in relief with auspicious animals and flowers.
