About Mount Gexian

Mount Gexian is a 1,096 m peak of the Wuyi range in Yanshan County, a Taoist mountain where legend holds that the Taoist Ge Xuan became an immortal. Its slopes hold the Yuxu temple complex (the Gexian Ancestral Temple, rebuilt many times and last repaired in 1928) and the Buddhist Ciji Temple, first built in 1593, and a cable car opened in 2017 takes about ten minutes to reach the upper area. At the foot, Gexian Village is a resort of hotels, homestays and evening shows built since 2016.
