About Guangjiao Temple Twin Pagodas
Two seven-storey brick pagodas, about 17 m tall and imitating timber construction, were built in 1096 under the Northern Song and stand 26.9 m apart at the south-eastern foot of Jingting Mountain. They are all that survived when Guangjiao Temple, founded in 849 by the Chan master Huangbo Xiyun, was destroyed during the war with Japan; the temple halls were rebuilt in 2004–2006. The painter Shitao lived here as a monk in the Kangxi era.
