About Zheng–Han Ancient City

The capital of the state of Zheng in the Spring and Autumn period and then of the state of Han, whose irregular rammed-earth walls, about 19 km round, survive in long stretches in and around modern Xinzheng where the Shuangji and Huangshui rivers meet. Its main display is the Zheng State Chariot Pits museum at the Houduanwan noble cemetery, where a great tomb and pits of dismantled chariots and horse skeletons are shown in place. Pit 3, excavated in 2017, held four vehicles, including a richly decorated carriage, and the bones of 122 horses.
