About Xianyou Confucian Temple
Founded in the Tang and moved to this site in 1002, Xianyou's Confucian temple was rebuilt after storm damage in 1678 and 1780 and restored again in 2006–09. Its axis runs from the main gate past the crescent pool and bridge and the Ji Gate to the double-eaved Dacheng Hall, which has carved stone dragon columns, an octagonal caisson ceiling and copies of Qing emperors' plaques. The Minglun Hall, a separate courtyard for study, lies to the east.
