About Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture Museum

The prefecture's main museum, opened in 1986 beside the Xi'er River in Xiaguan, in a building that blends Tang-style architecture with Bai house forms. Its displays focus on the history of the Nanzhao and Dali kingdoms and on Bai culture, with further galleries on bronze-age cultures, ceramics, Buddhist art, Dali marble, local historical figures and painting and calligraphy, drawn from a collection of about 16,800 items.
