About Qingchuan Pavilion

Qingchuan Pavilion stands on a rocky point at the foot of Turtle Hill in Hanyang, where the Han River meets the Yangtze, facing Yellow Crane Tower across the water. The scenic area, rebuilt in the 1980s and early 1990s, centres on the Qingchuan tower, first built in the 1540s to honour Yu the Great's flood control, and includes the Iron Gate tower, which houses an exhibition on Wuhan's flood-control history. The nationally listed part is Yuji Palace, a temple to Yu dating back to the Southern Song, whose present buildings were put up in 1863.
