About Site of the 5th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party

This former primary school in Wuchang is where the Chinese Communist Party's Fifth National Congress opened in April 1927, in the school's covered playground, before the delegates moved to another Wuhan venue to continue in secret. The compound was restored to its 1927 layout and opened as a memorial in 2007, with the playground rebuilt and a historical exhibition on the congress. Chen Tanqiu, an early party member, taught and lived at the school from 1922 to 1927.
