About Site of the New Fourth Army Headquarters, Hankou
This was the first headquarters of the New Fourth Army, set up in Hankou in late 1937 when Communist-led guerrilla forces in southern China were reorganised under the National Revolutionary Army; the headquarters moved to Nanchang in January 1938. Two surviving buildings on Shengli Street were restored by the city in 2005 and now hold a memorial hall, which opened in 2006: one hall carries the history exhibition, the other has the meeting room and staff offices restored along with the commanders' office-bedrooms. The site was listed as a national protected site in 2013.
