About Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai opened in 1988 and is one of the city's main venues for trade fairs, concerts and events, including the Art Basel Hong Kong art fair held each March. Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, it is known for its large glass curtain wall and an aluminium roof shaped to recall a seabird in flight. Most visitors see it from the harbourfront beside Golden Bauhinia Square.
