About Duofu Temple
A hill temple near the top of Mount Jueweishan, founded in 786 in the Tang dynasty and rebuilt in the early Ming. Its main hall holds Ming painted clay figures of three Buddhas and four bodhisattvas and 84 wall paintings of the Buddha's earlier lives. The scholar Fu Shan, who lived through the Ming–Qing transition, studied in a cave beside the temple, and the slopes around it are known for autumn colour.
