About Nüwa Palace
A temple complex dedicated to the mythical goddess Nüwa, who is said to have mended the sky and made humankind, with halls and pavilions built out along the cliff face of Fenghuang (Phoenix) Mountain, the present buildings dating from the Ming and Qing periods. Beside it, Buddhist sutras of more than 130,000 characters were carved into the rock under the Northern Qi in the sixth century. Nüwa rituals held here are on China's national intangible heritage list, and the temple sees extra pilgrims around Tomb Sweeping Day.
