About Huizhou Ancient City (Shexian)
The old town of Shexian (Huicheng), seat of Huizhou prefecture from the Song to the Qing, and the core of the Ancient Huizhou Culture Tourism Zone, whose other parts are Tangyue, Tangmo, Chengkan and the Qiankou Ming houses. At its centre stands the Xu Guo Archway of 1584, an eight-legged stone memorial arch covered in carving, built for the grand secretary Xu Guo, close to the gate towers of the old prefectural yamen. Nearby Doushan Street, a flagstone lane about 500 m long, is lined with the high walls and gateways of Qing merchants' and officials' mansions.

In Huicheng, the Shexian county town, about 25 km north-east of Tunxi by road.
