About Changqing Temple Pagoda

A seven-storey square brick-and-timber pagoda 23.1 m high, built in 1119 in the Northern Song at the foot of Xigan Hill on the south bank of the Lian River, facing the old town of Shexian; it is regarded as the oldest surviving pagoda in old Huizhou. The temple it was named after has gone, but the pagoda, standing in front of the present Taiping Xingguo Temple, keeps its Song form, with a gallery round the base, stone lotus thrones in its arched doorways and painted Buddhas on its walls.

How to get to Changqing Temple Pagoda

Across the Lian River from the old town of Shexian, about 400 m from the western end of Taiping Bridge; Shexian is about 25 km north-east of Tunxi by road.
