About Hau Mei Fung Ancestral Hall

Hau Mei Fung Ancestral Hall in Kam Tsin was built in the late 18th century by Hau Cheuk-wan, who gained a juren degree in 1788, to commemorate his great-grandfather Hau Mei-fung (1634–1688), a student of the Imperial Academy. It is a two-hall, three-bay Qing vernacular building whose rear hall has a porch with a humpbacked roof, a feature rarely seen among traditional buildings in Hong Kong. Plaster mouldings decorate the ridges and wall friezes, and the timberwork and ancestral shrine carry carvings of animals, flowers and folk stories.
