About Wu Jingzi Memorial Hall
A memorial museum to Wu Jingzi (1701–1754), the Quanjiao-born author of The Scholars, often seen as China's foremost satirical novel, on Zoumagang on the northern edge of Quanjiao town, facing the site of his family home across the Xiang River. Opened in 1986 in Ming and Qing style and enlarged since 2019, it holds Wu family heirlooms, scholars' writings on Wu and works of calligraphy and painting, and his cenotaph stands in the grounds. His rebuilt family home, opened in 2015, is across the river.
