About Langshan (Wolf Hill)

Langshan is a low hill on the Yangtze shore south of Nantong, the highest of five small hills grouped as a scenic area and counted among China's eight lesser Buddhist mountains. Guangjiao Temple, founded in 669 by the monk Sengjia and dedicated to the bodhisattva Mahasthamaprapta (Dashizhi), spreads its halls from the foot to the summit, which is crowned by the Song-dynasty Zhiyun Pagoda. Old ginkgos, cliff inscriptions and the tomb of the Tang poet Luo Binwang line the climb, and a Catholic pilgrimage church stands on the hill's north side.

How to get to Langshan (Wolf Hill)

About 8 km south of central Nantong by bus or taxi; stepped paths climb from the temple gate at the foot to the summit.
