About Pukou Railway Station

The British-designed southern terminus of the Tianjin–Pukou Railway on the north bank of the Yangtze, opened in 1914, where passengers from the north crossed by ferry to Nanjing until the Yangtze River Bridge opened in 1968. The protected group includes the station building, its covered walkways and the old booking hall, and the surrounding streets were restored as a historic quarter, completed in 2024, while the tracks still serve freight. The quarter draws on Zhu Ziqing's essay 'Back', set at this station, and has a statue of the writer.
