About Jiuri Mountain Inscriptions

A low hill at Fengzhou in Nan'an whose eastern and western peaks carry more than 70 cliff inscriptions from the Northern Song to the Qing, most of them Song. Several record the ceremonies at which Song officials prayed here each year for favourable winds for overseas shipping, and a stone Buddha was carved on the western peak in 965. As the Jiuri Mountain Wind-Praying Inscriptions it is one of the components of the Quanzhou World Heritage site.
