About Wuhou Temple, Mian County
The oldest of China's many temples to Zhuge Liang, founded in 263 on the order of the last Shu Han emperor, Liu Shan, near the strategist's burial place below Mount Dingjun. Its Ming and Qing buildings line a long axis from an old opera stage and bell and drum towers to the worship and main halls, where a statue of Zhuge Liang sits among steles carved with poems by writers such as Li Shangyin and Lu You. A centuries-old magnolia in a side courtyard draws visitors when it flowers in March.
