About Manfeilong Pagoda

A cluster of nine white brick stupas at Manfeilong village in Menglong, with a central stupa ringed by eight smaller ones on a plan shaped like an eight-petalled lotus. Dai records date the first building to 1204, but the present group probably dates from a rebuilding in the Qianlong reign of the Qing. Each small stupa has a niche holding a Buddha image; the plinth and niches carry relief carving, and the niche walls gilded stencil painting.
