About Lingguang Temple, Meizhou

A Chan Buddhist monastery on Yinna Mountain, founded in the Xiantong era of the Tang dynasty (860–874) by the monk Pan Liaoquan as Shengshou Temple and renamed Lingguang Temple in 1385. Two ancient cypresses before the gate, one living and one long dead, are known as the 'trees of life and death', and the bell tower keeps a bronze bell cast in 1485.
