About Sam Kai Vui Kun (Kuan Tai Temple)
A temple dating from the 18th century, with plaques recording a restoration in 1792. Its name means "three-streets meeting hall": merchants from Rua dos Mercadores, Rua das Estalagens and Rua dos Ervanários once met here, in the old Chinese bazaar quarter, and it later became purely a place of worship for Kuan Tai, the deity of loyalty and righteousness. Part of the Historic Centre of Macau, it stands beside the main square among largely Portuguese-style buildings.
