About Rua do Cunha
A narrow pedestrian street in the heart of Taipa Village, made Macau's first pedestrian zone in 1983. It is lined with old restaurants serving traditional dishes and shops selling souvenir snacks such as almond biscuits, egg rolls, coconut flakes and peanut candy. It is named after Pedro Alexandrino da Cunha, a naval captain who became governor of Macau in 1850 and died of cholera 37 days after arriving.
