About Palace of Nine Perfections (Jiucheng Palace)
Remains of a Sui and Tang summer palace in Linyou town: Emperor Wen of Sui built the Renshou Palace here in 593–595, Tang Taizong rebuilt it as the Jiucheng (Nine Perfections) Palace in 631, and a flood destroyed it in 836. Excavations from the late 1980s traced a precinct about 1 km long, including a Sui hall that filled a gap in the record of Chinese palace architecture. The original Liquan Spring stele of 632, composed by Wei Zheng and written by Ouyang Xun and long admired as a model of standard-script calligraphy, is kept in the Linyou County Museum.
