About Lashi Lake
Lashi Lake lies at about 2,440 metres in a basin on the south-eastern slopes of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, 8 km west of Lijiang, and is the core of a provincial wetland nature reserve set up in 1998. Some 20,000 to 30,000 migratory waterbirds winter here, among them black-necked cranes and bar-headed geese, and 57 bird species have been recorded in the wetland. A dam built since the 1980s keeps the once-seasonal lake at a steady level.
