About Guangyue Tower
Guangyue Tower is a four-storey timber tower on a brick-and-stone base at the centre of Liaocheng's old town, begun in the early Ming dynasty as a lookout and about 33 m tall. Climbing it gives views over the old town and the lake, and its upper floors hold stone tablets and plaques, including one attributed to the Kangxi emperor; both Kangxi and Qianlong climbed it. It has been a national protected monument since 1988 and is the best-known landmark of Liaocheng's 'water city'.
