About Five Springs Park (Wuquan Mountain)
A hillside park on the northern slopes of Gaolan Mountain in southern Lanzhou, named after five springs that legend says appeared when the Han general Huo Qubing struck the ground with his whip. Temples climb the slope in 25 building groups first built in the Yuan and extended through the Ming, Qing and Republican periods, among them Junyuan Temple, a Wenchang Palace, a Wuhou Shrine to Zhuge Liang and a Thousand Buddha Pavilion. It became a public park in 1955 and holds a temple fair on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month.
