About Mount Baohua and Longchang Temple

Mount Baohua, a forested hill just east of Nanjing, is a national forest park whose main sight is Longchang Temple, founded in 502 and regarded as the ancestral seat of the Vinaya (monastic discipline) school of Chinese Buddhism. Its protected buildings are a copper hall and two brick 'beamless' halls built in 1605, and the temple also keeps its ordination platform and ginkgo trees about 400 years old.
