About Sihang Warehouse

A six-storey concrete warehouse on the north bank of Suzhou Creek, built in 1931, where more than 420 soldiers of the Chinese 88th Division under Xie Jinyuan held out against Japanese forces in October 1937 in full view of crowds in the International Settlement across the creek. The restored west wall still shows shell and bullet holes, and the Sihang Warehouse Battle Memorial, opened inside the building in 2015, tells the story with dioramas, battle scenes and films.
