About Jiaxing Catholic Church and Vincent Abbey
A brick church in simplified Gothic style with twin bell towers 37 m high, built in 1917–30 to the design of the Italian Vincentian priest Angelo-Joseph Asinelli and for long the tallest building in Jiaxing. Its roof and fittings were wrecked during the Cultural Revolution, and the church was restored in 2020–21, when the ground around it was opened up as a public lawn beside the Zicheng site park. The same listing covers Vincent Abbey, the Vincentians' seminary built in 1902–03 with arcaded wings, about 2 km to the north-east on Guangming Street.
