About Xixinan Village
An old village on the Fengle River, founded in 860, that was home to the Wu clan of salt merchants, who filled it with houses, gardens and halls; most were lost in fighting in 1856, but more than 100 Ming and Qing buildings remain along three old streets and three channelled streams. Its national heritage sites are the Laowu Pavilion, a mid-Ming two-storey house whose upper hall was the main living floor, and the Lürao Pavilion, a square roadside pavilion by a pond rebuilt in 1456, and beside the village a wetland grove of Chinese wingnut trees stretches for about 4 km.
