About Hanxianyan Scenic Area

A red-sandstone Danxia hill and gorge area in the south of Huichang county, named after the legend that Han Zhongli, one of the Eight Immortals, attained immortality here. Stone carvings of the Eight Immortals stand at the entrance, and the trail climbs through narrow rock clefts past inscriptions cut over several centuries to a small cave linked with him, then drops to a slit-like gorge. Boats on Hanxian Lake give a view of the whole cliff face.
