About Zhaohua Temple
A Ming-dynasty Buddhist temple in the old town of Huai'ancheng, founded in the late 14th century and rebuilt in the 1430s and 1440s, and a national heritage unit since 2001. Its main hall holds 47 water-and-land ritual murals painted in 1562, showing Buddhist and Daoist deities. The compound also keeps its heavenly kings' hall, a stele and side halls, and is of interest mainly for the Ming murals.
