About Temple of the Five Lords

A memorial complex in Haikou's old Fucheng quarter honouring five Tang and Song officials who were banished to Hainan, among them the chancellors Li Deyu and Li Gang. The central two-storey timber hall was built in 1889 and stands among shrines to Su Dongpo and to two Han-dynasty Fubo generals, with the Fusu spring, garden pavilions and an exhibition hall of Hainan relics. The complex shows how Hainan served as a place of exile in imperial times.
