About Haotian Pagoda
A five-storey octagonal brick pagoda in pavilion style on a low hill on the east side of Liangxiang, the only pagoda of this type in Beijing. First built in the Sui dynasty and rebuilt in 1068 under the Liao, it is hollow, with corridors and stairs inside; the Buddha figures in the niches of its doorways were smashed in 1901 during the Eight-Nation Alliance occupation.
